British Columbia Safaris – Stone Ram Clintonville member Dale Kluth sent in this report and photos from his August 2007 hunting trip to Canada. Kluth hunted with BC Safaris of Prince George, BC. His personal guide was Keith Connors. The hunt cost was listed at $25,000.
“ The owners Keith Connors and Shane Black have a very large area to hunt. There is a deluxe base camp. They own their own float plane and have excellent horses. I found them and their crew very accommodating. Connors was easy to get to know and get along with. Connors has all the skills needed as he has guided and outfitted all his life. Flew Northwest, Air Canada, and Northern Thunderbird Air with no problems. But Air Canada charged $50 to put a rifle on the plane. The hunt that I was on had three other hunters in different areas and all four of us took rams. BC Safaris has a large area and will move if you are not into sheep. The country is big, rough and thick in the lower elevations. I really enjoyed Keith Connors company as we hunted and spent a lot of time together. Connors is also a excellent pilot with over 7000 hours flying time in the bush.” All aspects of the hunt were rated 8 – 10 Kluth did not take a caribou as he did not see the outstanding trophy he wanted. ( Editor Note: Air Canada has since rescinded the charge for a rifle as baggage at last report but this is becoming commonplace on airlines elsewhere.)
